How have you responded to the Covid-19 virus?
For our fulfilment and contact centre, we are lucky to have just moved into a purpose-built warehouse and head office complex of 66,000 sq feet. This large, airy, modern space has enabled us to ensure we meet all the guidelines of Public Health England whilst remaining open. At any one time, there are no more than 30 people in the warehouse which has meant we can successfully work with social distancing.
As we are a small company, we have been able to develop individual responses to this situation and flex working arrangements to support our staff on a one-to-one basis.
We have taken many steps including changing shift patterns, staggering lunch breaks and staggering the time that staff enter and leave the building, all to ensure there are no bottlenecks where social distancing may be compromised.
Those based in the office in London and the support office in Leicester have been working from home since the start of this crisis.
We have always looked after our staff and treated them well, so it goes without saying that we will continue to do so.
Is it safe to have parcels delivered?
Yes, the current advice from our partners at FedEx is that it is safe to receive parcels although you will no longer be asked to sign for deliveries – your postman will do that for you. We suggest you wash your hands after opening the outer packaging.
Are you still taking calls?
Yes, our contact centre is still open and you can now call us between ET 7 am to 5.30 pm and PT 7 am to 1.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
The contact centre is situated in a large, airy, open-plan office that was designed with the future in mind so can fit double the size of the team we currently have. Even so, those who can work from home have been set up to do so.
What is Wrap doing to help?
Over the last 20 years we have made significant donations to large, multinational charities like Water Aid, British Red Cross and Just one Ocean as well as smaller local ones with connections to our staff and their families like LOROS - a hospice near us in Leicester, Coalville Stroke Club and Crohn's & Colitis UK.
We don’t normally talk about this sort of activity as we do it to support the charities, not for our benefit. However, we have been asked if we are doing anything to support the NHS during this critical time. Our operational skills are not what is needed right now but we are working with HelpForce a charity linked to the NHS donating clothes and nightwear to both patients and key workers at various hospitals across the country.
I hope you, your family and colleagues have been able to stay safe and well over the last few months. I wanted to personally thank you for the generous support you gave Helpforce and the NHS during the COVID crisis. Your generosity enabled us to provide so much comfort to patients and staff on the frontline.

What was your company reaction to Covid-19?
As we face the current situation together, we are all focused on more important things than clothes. The health and well-being of our friends, families and colleagues rightly takes priority over everything else.
We are a small company of around 100 people split between our London design studio, our head office near Leicester and our two London shops. We have spent this week responding to the evolving news and taking steps to make sure we can continue to work in a safe way. We have always looked after our staff and treated them well, so it goes without saying that we will continue to do so.
From 20th March, we have closed our two Poetry stores until further notice, we sincerely hope to be open again soon but for the health of our staff and the well-being of our customers, this is the right thing to do.
Our collections will continue to be available on our websites. We hope the arrival of our new High Summer collections might provide some distraction and we will continue to send you snap shots of the ranges to lighten your in-box.
