At Wrap, we believe in creating beautiful clothing with natural fabrics that feel as good as they look. Cashmere has been at the centrepiece of our collections for many seasons, and we pride ourselves on our generous silhouettes and beautiful contemporary designs.
Benefits
Widely known for its incredible softness and luxurious feel, cashmere fibres are combed from the fine underlayer of a cashmere goat's coat. The super-fine fibres are what make cashmere so soft and comfortable against the skin. Key to both our Autumn Winter and Spring Summer collections, cashmere has a high moisture content that responds to humidity in the air, making it suitable for all climates. As well as having an elegant natural drape and lightweight, breathable qualities, cashmere can last a lifetime if it is cared for properly.
Our Suppliers
We work only with the finest grade A cashmere, ethically sourced from Tibet and Inner Mongolia. In spring the goats naturally shed their winter coats and the undercoat is removed by hand with a coarse comb. This is a lengthy, labour-intensive process, which makes cashmere wool one of the most valuable and expensive fibres in the world.
Sourced from a Chinese supplier we have been working with for many seasons, our cashmere comes from Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and Ningxia where cashmere goats naturally shed their winter coats. Before being spun into yarn, the long and fine fibres combed from the soft undercoat are DNA tested to ensure they are pure and free of substances that could be harmful to health and the environment. The Responsible Wool Standards certification and International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare ensure that our cashmere comes from farms with a progressive approach to managing their land, and from goats that are treated responsibly. All dyes used on our cashmere yarns are metal-free and low impact, adhering to the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colourists who evaluate the dyes performance characteristics. We are proud to work with a supplier that is committed to environmental protection throughout every step of the cashmere development process.
Care
The friction of everyday wear may cause your cashmere to ‘pill’, this is a natural characteristic of the fabric and not an indication of poor quality. The excess fibres can easily be removed using a cashmere comb, simply lay your garment flat and run the comb over the surface to pick up loose balls of fluff. Over time pilling will reduce and once the coat has finished releasing the shorter fibres, the longer twisted fibres will remain, and your cashmere will continue to stay beautiful. We recommend handwashing with a specialist detergent to maintain the fabrics luxurious softness. Once washed lie the garment flat on a drying rack and air dry to avoid stretching and misshaping. With the right care, your cashmere can be loved and worn for years.
