A Journey Through Craft and Culture
Destination: Rajasthan
In January last year, the Wrap London design team embarked on an inspiring journey across India, immersing ourselves in the heart of its artisanal traditions and vibrant culture. This unforgettable trip shaped the creative vision for our upcoming spring summer 2025 collection, offering rich inspiration from the bustling markets of Delhi to the majestic palaces of Jaipur and the weaving mills of Tamil Nadu.

Delhi: where heritage meets modern craft
Our adventure began in Delhi, India’s dynamic capital, where we balanced exploration with productive sessions alongside our key supplier, Afflatus.
The city’s rich textiles and vibrant markets set the tone for our journey. On our first day, we wandered through the colourful stalls of Janpath Market and Delhi Haat, uncovering a treasure trove of fabrics and artisanal crafts. These bustling markets introduced us to the intricate patterns and bold colour combinations that later inspired the check and stripe designs in our SS25 collection.
At the weaving mills, we delved deeper into the art of fabric production. Highlights included tours of their printing and Schiffli mills, where we witnessed the processes behind both digital- and screen-printing. These visits were invaluable, sparking ideas for new developments that informed our designs for the coming season.

Jaipur: The epitome of artistic inspiration
From Delhi, we journeyed to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s ‘Pink City’, renowned for its opulent architecture and artisanal crafts. Here, inspiration seemed to be woven into every corner.
Our exploration began at the City Palace, where a private tour revealed intricate architectural details and vibrant doorways, influencing the opulent patterns seen in our spring summer collection Hawa Mahal prints. The ethereal beauty of the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, inspired both its namesake print and the season’s distinctive colour palette. Similarly, the floral murals of Nahargarh Fort shaped the delicate motifs for our Nahargarh print.
A highlight of our time in Jaipur was a hands-on workshop in traditional block printing, an age-old craft synonymous with the city. Working alongside skilled artisans, we learned the meticulous process of woodblock printing, which deepened our appreciation for the craft and inspired innovative uses of pattern and texture.
The vibrant flower and vegetable market we visited at dawn was another source of inspiration. Its explosion of colours informed the vibrant hues of our Jaipur Haveli story. Wandering through Jaipur’s local markets later that day, we gathered more ideas for patterns and palettes, blending the essence of the city into our collection.

Tamil Nadu: weaving tradition and innovation
Our final stop was Tamil Nadu in southern India, where we spent a whirlwind day and a half exploring the weaving mills. These mills showcased the intricate process of turning yarn into finished woven fabrics, including stripes, jacquards, and checks. Witnessing looms in action was a fascinating experience that deepened our understanding of the craftsmanship behind every fabric.
Beyond the mills, Tamil Nadu’s vibrant landscapes left a lasting impression. The region’s brightly painted buildings inspired fresh colour combinations for the collection. A visit to the tranquil Isha Foundation capped our time in the south, offering a moment of reflection amid the busy itinerary.

Homeward bound
Flying home, our suitcases were filled with sketches, fabric samples, and the memories of countless vibrant experiences. From Delhi’s bustling markets to Jaipur’s palatial grandeur and Tamil Nadu’s innovative mills, each moment of the trip infused our SS25 collection with the richness of India’s artisanal heritage. We can’t wait to share this journey with you through the designs that emerged from our time in Rajasthan—a celebration of colour, craft, and culture.
